BAMSI Health
Caring for the whole person
“In the past we would treat the condition and not the person. Over the years we have been looking at the person as a whole. None of us are defined by the condition we happen to have. BAMSI Behavioral Health services pay attention to all aspects of the human being and we are uniquely positioned to do this because of the multiple services that we offer. Our interventions are strength-based and person-centered and are based on proven evidence-based practices that put the person in the middle of the treatment process.”

Clinicians, counselors, care coordinators, and advocates work together at BAMSI to build a supportive network of services tailored to the health needs of the community. We understand the health of the individuals we serve is intimately tied to their life circumstances. By addressing the social determinants of health - the economic, racial, gender, and social factors that can influence an individual’s physical health - within our programs, we empower people and strengthen neighborhoods.
Social determinants of health (SDOH) have a major impact on people’s health, well-being, and quality of life. Examples of SDOH include:
- Safe housing, transportation, and neighborhoods
- Racism, discrimination, and violence
- Education, job opportunities, and income
- Access to nutritious foods and physical activity opportunities
- Language and literacy skills
- Polluted air and water
At BAMSI, we look at all the things that might be impacting someone’s health and make sure they have all the services and supports they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
